Beef Steak with Mushroom Sauce Recipe

A beef steak as already said in one of our blogs is all about the cuts of the meat you use. A variety of cuts are available in the market with variable prices; some very expensive, others not so much. The definition of perfect steak according to me is juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The sides and how you marinade the meat is also very important.

Ingredients:

For steak:

Beef Steak                               any cut of your choice (used rib eye)

Onion Powder                         ½ teaspoon

Mustard Paste                         ½ teaspoon

Soy Sauce                                1 tablespoon

Garlic                                      2-3 cloves

Oil                                           1 tablespoon

Butter                                      2-3 tablespoon

Rosemary                                1 leaf

Salt                                          1 tablespoon

Black Pepper                           1 Tablespoon

For mushroom sauce:

Butter                                      1 tablespoon

Oil                                           1 tablespoon

Mushrooms                             500 grams

Cream                                     1 cup

Milk                                         1 cup

Cornstarch                              3 teaspoons

Salt and pepper                       to taste

Spring Onions                          for garnish

Instructions:

·         Take a zip lock bag and add salt, pepper, mustard, soy sauce and onion powder to it. Place the meat in the bag and mix until the ingredients are well coated on the steak.

·         Marinade this steak for at least 2 to 3 hours before you cook the steak.

·         Now take a pan and heat oil in it and add garlic and sauté it for a few seconds and place the marinated steak in the pan and cook the steak for a couple of minutes on both sides and butter and rosemary to it.

·         Keep on pouring the oil butter mixture over the steak when it is cooking. For a well-done steak at least cook your steak for 6-8 minutes on each side or the inner temperature of the steak to be 150-degree Fahrenheit to 154-degree Fahrenheit. Check with a cooking thermometer.

·         Remove the rosemary leaf from the pan. The rosemary adds flavor to the steak. Then take the steak out into a plate and cover with foil for 5 minutes before serving.

·         For mushroom sauce take a separate pan add oil and butter. Add chopped mushrooms and cook them until they are brown and reduced.

·         Add 1 cup cream to it. Now mix 3 teaspoon of corn and mix well so that lumps would not form. Then add salt and pepper according to your taste.

·         You can also add a few drops of lemon to this sauce to give it a bit of punch.

·         Keep on stirring until the sauce thickens and is the right consistency. Pour this sauce in a serving bowl and garnish it with spring onions on top.

·         For the sides to be served with your steak you can sauté asparagus, fresh beans, and carrots with salt and pepper.

·         You can also make potato wedges for the sides as I did for this particular recipe. Cut a potato and add salt, pepper, paprika and onion powder to marinate the potatoes and bake them at 200 degree Celsius for 10 minutes or until cooked.

·         In a serving plate, place the cooked steak and add sautéed veggies and the bowl of sauce on the side and serve!

Note:

Different temperatures and cooking time for steaks is given in the table and you can cook your steak as per your liking.
