Namak Paray and Tea Recipe

Wok Bae Review

Wok bae is a newly opened Chinese restaurant in the heart of Islamabad, situated at the Beverly Center, it has alrady started giving a tough competition to Asian wok by Monal. Although Asian Wok has a bigger name associated with it (Monal Group) but still Wok Bae has managed to pull crowds over.

Recently, we visited wok bae to avail their newly introduced lunch deals, and I have to say, we were not at all disappointed. The deals range from 2-3 persons to 6-8 persons, as per your need. Details are as follows:

·         Deal for 2-3 persons (PKR 1,500):

o   Fish Crackers

o   Mint Margaritas (One time)

o   1 Rice/Chow Mein

o   1 Chicken Main

·         Deal for 4-5 persons (PKR 3,000):

o   Fish Crackers

o   Mint Margaritas (One time)

o   2 Rice/Chow Mein

o   1 Chicken Main

·         Deal for 6-8 persons (4,500):

o   Fish Crackers

o   Mint Margaritas (One time)

o   3 Rice/Chow Mein

o   3 Chicken Main

As we were 3 friends, we ordered the 2-3 person deal, and I have to say that the quantity was more than sufficient. We ordered egg fried rice with Kung Pao chicken.

For starters, we were served with complimentary fish crackers. Moving on, the food was served piping hot with ice cold margaritas within 10 mins of placing the order. Coming to the food, it was a 10/10. The Kung pao chicken had just the right amount of flavors. This is always a risky item to go with, as some restaurants prepare it to be too sweet. It had that crispy touch of peanuts which is sometimes lacking in other places. The vegetables were fresh and crispy just like they should have been, not too soggy. It was just one of the best Kung Pao we ever had. The fried rice were great too, and trust me, some restaurants even ruin a dish as simple as fried rice sometimes. So this is something many don’t focus on, but it is very important to focus on the basics and get them right as well. It had just the perfect amount of vegetables and eggs so that the taste of one doesn’t overpower the other. The food was simply great, I have been a regular at Asian wok, but am now considering to change my preferences.

Coming to the service quality, we were greeted at the door by the restaurant manager himself after which he showed us our way to the table. The staff was following proper Covid SOPs as everyone was wearing face masks and gloves. The service was pretty quick as we were served the food within 10 mins of placing the order. The manager also asked if we were happy with the quality of food after it was served or wanted something else. So I am pretty happy with the service as well. Will definitely go there again to try out their Thai menu!

Here is how I would rate the restaurant:

Food: 10/10

Service: 9/10

Value for money: 10/10

Ambiance: 8/10

Overall: 9/10
